About STPI Kakinada

KKD-main Established on 5th June 1991, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), an autonomous society under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, has since emerged as the growth driver of Indian IT/ITeS/ESDM industry. With a mandate to promote software and electronic hardware exports from the country by implementing Software Technology Park (STP) & Electronic Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) Schemes, STPI pioneered the ease of doing business for policy governance in India by building a robust ecosystem to provide single window clearance services, world-class internet connectivity, state-of-the-art incubation facilities and other infrastructure services to encourage, promote and boost software exports.

STPI-Kakinada is the fourth centre in Andhra Pradesh. It is inaugurated on 03rd February 2007.

The State of Art Incubation facility, Datacom Services and Statutory Services to the software companies is now available from the most modern facility in Kakinada. The facility is matching to the world class standards and it has become the most modern Incubation facility created by STPI in the state.

This new initiative is set to create a new dimension for the professionals from Kakinada and neighbouring region to get best employment opportunities. It also enabled to create software companies to have their export firms in IT industry to operate from Kakinada.

STPI’s main objective has been the promotion of software exports from the country. STPI acts as single-window in providing services to the software exporters. The services rendered by STPI for the software exporting community have been statutory services, data communications services, incubation facilities, training and value added services. STPI has played a key developmental role in the promotion of software exports with a special focus on SMEs and start up units.

STPI has been implementing the Software Technology Park (STP) scheme and the Electronics Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) scheme for the promotion of IT/ITES industry. The phenomenal success of the IT-ITES industry has been possible, inter-alia, due to pivotal role played by the STP Scheme. STP Scheme is a unique scheme, designed to promote the software industry and growth of startups and SMEs without any locational constraints.

About Kakinada

Kakinada is the District Headquarters for East Godavari District, which is the coastal region of the state. East Godavari District occupies an important place in Andhra Pradesh (AP) and is called the rice bowl of AP. The coastal districts in the state are known for its abundance in agriculture, growth and good education base. Also people from the region are having strong NRI presence, mainly due to the educational institutions like JNTU college of Engineering, Kakinada medical college which has got decades of history in bringing out professionals in all the fields and migrated abroad. Due to its potential, many industries are also operating in Kakinada other than the Petroleum and Natural Gas exploration.

Kakinada is a minor seaport and the state port authority is located at Kakinada. Other important areas include Fisheries, Power Generation and Oil and Gas exploration. It has two fertilizer plants namely Godavari fertilizer plant and Nagarjuna fertilizer plant.

Kakinada is the place for the scientific and technical community who migrated to different parts of the world.  Right now Kakinada and neighbouring districts of Coastal Andhra enjoys contributing large percentage of NRI population migrated in large numbers particularly in software field, providing a congenial environment in Kakinada for related business activities.

Rajahmundry is having an airport and it is well connected to Kakinada, which is forty-five minutes drive on ADB road and well connected by Rail and Road.
