About STPI Warangal

Established on 5th June 1991, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), an autonomous society under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, has since emerged as the growth driver of Indian IT/ITeS/ESDM industry. With a mandate to promote software and electronic hardware exports from the country by implementing Software Technology Park (STP) & Electronic Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) Schemes, STPI pioneered the ease of doing business for policy governance in India by building a robust ecosystem to provide single window clearance services, world-class internet connectivity, state-of-the-art incubation facilities and other infrastructure services to encourage, promote and boost software exports.

STPI Warangal which is under STPI-Hyderabad directorate was established in the year 2001. Started Datacom Operations from the campus of National Institute of Technology (N.I.T.) (formerly Regional Engineering College), by offering High speed Internet services to IT/ITES industry and educational institutions. Recognizing to STPI-Warangal services, state government has supported to establish its own premises. In The year 2013, STPI-Warangal has established its own operating premises with state of art infrastructure, started Incubation Services, Datacom Services and Statutory Services to the IT/ITES industry.

About Warangal: Agriculture is the main economic activity with irrigation depending mainly on monsoon and seasonal rainfalls. Major crops are paddy, cotton, mango and wheat. Warangal benefits from the Godavari lift irrigation scheme which is designed to lift water from the Godavari river to irrigate drought prone areas in the Telangana region.

The city hosts second-biggest grain market of Asia, located in Enumamula. Information Technology is another sector in which the city is making steady progress with its Incubation centre at Madikonda. Recently Tech Mahindra and Cyient have opened their development centres and many other IT majors like Mindtree, quadrant resource will be opening their offices shortly.

Nearly 20 Nos IT/ITES companies are operating in Warangal District. With the availability of good infrastructure, man power and cosmopolitan nature of Warangal, there is a lot of potential for the growth of IT Industry. Warangal is also having good number of NRI base software professionals. The IT industry in Warangal is in growing stage and the progress is expected to make positive strides over the coming years with the initiations by Central and State Government.
