About STPI Hyderabad

Established on 5th June 1991, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), an autonomous society under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, has since emerged as the growth driver of Indian IT/ITeS/ESDM industry. With a mandate to promote software and electronic hardware exports from the country by implementing Software Technology Park (STP) & Electronic Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) Schemes, STPI pioneered the ease of doing business for policy governance in India by building a robust ecosystem to provide single window clearance services, world-class internet connectivity, state-of-the-art incubation facilities and other infrastructure services to encourage, promote and boost software exports.

STPI-Hyderabad is one of the nine STPI jurisdictions having its main centre in Hyderabad, Telangana and five sub-centres located at VishakapatnamKakinada, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Warangal. STPI-Hyderabad has been the backbone for the growth of software and hardware industry in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana since last three decades and has enabled Hyderabad to emerge as one of the leading IT clusters in India.

STPI-Hyderabad has warranted the growth of software exports from the Telangana region and generated employment and entrepreneurial opportunities by buoying the economic progress of the nation. In FY 2019-20, STPI-registered units under STPI-Hyderabad jurisdiction contributed Rs. 65,373 Cr. software exports.

Hyderabad is the capital of the state Telangana, India. It also goes by its Sobriquet City of Pearls. As of 2019 it is the sixth most populous city and sixth-most populous urban agglomeration in India. Hyderabad was founded by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1591 on the banks of Musi. Today, the city covers an area of approximately 650 sq. km. The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad come under the ambit of a single municipal unit, The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

Hyderabad has developed into one of the major hubs for the information technology industry in India which has earned it the additional sobriquet "Cyberabad". In addition to the IT industry, various biotechnology and pharmaceutics companies have set up their operations in Hyderabad owing to its established Public sector in Life Science Research and Genome Valley.

STPI’s main objective has been the promotion of software exports from the country. STPI acts as single-window in providing services to the software exporters. The services rendered by STPI for the software exporting community have been statutory services, data communications services, incubation facilities, training and value added services. STPI has played a key developmental role in the promotion of software exports with a special focus on SMEs and start up units.

STPI has been implementing the Software Technology Park (STP) scheme and the Electronics Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) scheme for the promotion of IT/ITES industry. The phenomenal success of the IT-ITES industry has been possible, inter-alia, due to pivotal role played by the STP Scheme. STP Scheme is a unique scheme, designed to promote the software industry and growth of startups and SMEs without any locational constraints
